  20.     Set S54=128 to make a connection using vFC instead of v.34 (the
  21. S54=128 command actualy disables v.8, but since v.8 negotiation is
  22. required to make a v.34 connection, the end result is that v.34 is
  23. disabled and a vFC connection is made).  In my experience, Hayes v.34
  24. modems just don't want to connect to any other v.34 modem very well,
  25. they've been a source of problems ever since they first appeared over a
  26. year ago.
